How to Install the Agent on Wix

Learn where to insert the widget code in Wix, how installation differs for Wix Stores, what to do if the code is unavailable on a free plan, and how to verify it's working.

On Wix, embedding third-party code is done in a dedicated settings section and requires a paid plan with a connected domain. The process is simple from here.

Step 1. Open Custom Code#

  1. In your site's dashboard, open Settings.
  2. Find the Custom Code section under “Advanced”.
  3. Click + Add Custom Code.

Step 2. Insert the Code#

  1. In the code field, paste the line from your Commerce Agents account.
  2. Give it a clear name: Commerce Agents.
  3. Add Code to Pages — select All pages and Load once mode.
  4. Place Code in — select Body — end.
  5. Save and publish your site.

The chat button will appear a second after the page loads.

Custom code is available on paid Wix plans with a connected domain. You cannot insert the script on a free plan — in this case, use the agent link: add it as a button on your page and in the header of your social media profiles.

Step 3. Catalog from Wix Stores#

Enter your website address in the settings and start the analysis. The crawler reads Wix Stores product pages: name, price, description, photos, availability.

A Wix peculiarity: some content loads via scripts. The catalog usually reads fine, but if few products are found, there are two workarounds:

Step 4. Cart#

If you have Wix Stores, do not enable in-chat payments. In the settings, specify the cart link — usually https://your-domain/cart — and the agent will guide the buyer to it.

If your store is not connected, but products are described on pages, enable in-chat payments: the buyer will place and pay for the order directly in the chat.

Chat Card Opens Product in Store#

The agent responds with cards, not text: a photo, name, price, and button. Clicking it opens the Wix Stores product page in the same window — the buyer lands on your product card, which already has an “Add to Cart” button and everything else you've configured.

The point is that people don't browse the catalog themselves. They say “I need a gift under five hundred”, the agent picks three options from your assortment, shows them side-by-side, and explains the differences. The buyer clicks on the preferred one and lands exactly where they need to be.

Products gathered not from the website but from social media posts work the same way: the button opens the original publication. The catalog can be compiled from various sources, but it always leads to where you sell.

Plus, page context: the agent reads the product markup on the open page, so it understands the question “what about another color?” without further clarification — it knows what the buyer is looking at.

Light and Dark Theme#

The chat has three design modes: light, dark, and “visitor's preference”. The third option is enabled by default — the theme adapts to device settings.

Wix templates often use contrasting backgrounds, so if your site is dark, set the dark theme explicitly: this way, the chat window will look like part of the design, not a sticker over it.

Verification#

Common Issues#

Button did not appear. The site was not published after adding the code, or the code was not added to all pages. Check Custom Code settings: All pages, Body — end.

Code disappeared. This can happen after changing the site template. Add it again.

Widget overlaps Wix elements. Move the button to the left in the widget settings or remove the second floating Wix element.

Few products in the catalog. Upload a CSV from the Wix dashboard: this is a more reliable workaround for sites where content is built with scripts.

Frequently Asked Questions#

Do I need Velo or a developer#

No. Simply insert the code in the Custom Code section; no programming is required.

Does the agent work on a free Wix site#

Code insertion is not available on the free plan. However, the agent via link works there: you can add the short URL as a button on your page and social media.

Will Wix detect a third-party script#

Custom code is a standard Wix feature; there are no restrictions on such scripts.

How to update the catalog after price changes#

Rerun the site analysis. Existing product cards will update with new prices and availability; no duplicates will appear.

Can I place the agent only on a product page#

Yes, in Custom Code settings, select specific pages instead of All pages.
